Ensete ventricosum 'Maurelii' - Ethiopian Red Banana
Large, single-stemmed ornamental banana having a slick red stem and leaf stems.  Dark green leaves grow 8 feet (2.4 meters) long and contrast beautifully with red stem.  Stem base grows to 18 inches(45 cm) in diameter and plant attains a height of 18 feet (5.5 meters).  Can be grown in containers in part shade, but red coloration develops best in full sun.  Maintains smaller size in containers.

Musa acuminata 'Enano Gigante' - Dwarf Banana
Short-stemmed, fruiting banana growing only 6-8 feet (1.8-2.4 meters) high.  Very attractive tropical appearing plant that is good for small gardens.  Produces small bananas 4-5 inches (10-13 cm) long that are sweet and excellent in flavor.  This dwarf can be grown in large containers.

Musa sikkimensis - Himalayan Banana
Rare, ornamental banana, new to cultivation, with purplish new leaves and leaf stems.  Many plants have beautiful, shiny green leaves mottled with burgundy red blotches.  Multi-stemmed and grows to 14 feet (4.3 meters) high.  Produces sweet fruit having seeds.  Hardy to cold and resistant to frost where it grows up to 6,000 feet (1,800 meters) in the Indian slopes of the Himalayas.  This banana should be good for Gulf Coast and California.  Zone 9

Musa velutina - Pink Flowering Banana
Small, multiple-stemmed banana having dark green leaves that have a bronzy cast on the undersides.  Blooms as a large, bright pink inflorescence emerging from top of plant in erect fashion.  Individual orange flowers are inside the pink bracts (flower sheathes) and later followed by little, velvety, pink bananas.  They are sweet, but seeded.  Tolerates part shade and can be grown in containers on patios or in brighty lit areas near windows.  Zone 10
